At Oncode Institute, we believe that groundbreaking cancer research should ultimately benefit patients and society. We bring together leading cancer researchers across the Netherlands and support them in translating scientific discoveries into new diagnostics, therapies, companies, collaborations, and other forms of societal impact.

To strengthen our Valorization & Business Development team, we are looking for an IP Analyst.

About The Role

As an IP Analyst, you will work at the interface of science, intellectual property, and innovation. You will help identify promising discoveries emerging from Oncode research, assess their patentability and commercial potential, and support the development of intellectual property strategies that enable future impact.

You will work closely with Researchers, Business Development Managers, and Patent Attorneys to help ensure that innovative research findings are effectively protected and positioned for translation.

  • Assessing invention disclosures and patent opportunities.
  • Performing prior-art and patent landscape analyses.
  • Supporting the development of IP strategies for innovative oncology technologies.
  • Working with Patent Attorneys on patent drafting and filing activities.
  • Using approved AI-enabled tools to support patent searching, while critically verifying results and safeguarding confidential information.
  • Contributing to the broader valorization of research discoveries.

  • Strong analytical skills and scientific curiosity.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with researchers and external stakeholders.
  • An interest in applying modern digital and AI tools to support high-quality analysis and decision-making.
  • Experience with patents, technology transfer, innovation management, or the biotechnology sector is an advantage, but not a requirement.

A Unique Growth Opportunity

You will join a team that includes experienced Dutch and European Patent Attorneys and report directly to one of the Senior Patent Attorneys in the team. You will work with them on challenging and impactful projects and develop through supervised practical experience, professional education, and specialized training.

For candidates with the ambition and aptitude to build a long-term career in intellectual property, Oncode offers the opportunity to work toward qualification as a Nederlands Octrooigemachtigde and/or European Patent Attorney. Following successful qualification, and subject to performance and organizational needs, this may lead to a future Patent Attorney role within the Oncode team.
