We invite you to join us for the Oncode Institute Clinical workshop Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), which will take place on November 22, 2024, at Bar Beton, Utrecht Centraal Station. This workshop is co-organized by clinician Marc Raaijmakers (Erasmus MC) and Oncode Investigator Ruben van Boxtel (PMC).
Programme
The programme for this workshop is available here.
Practical details:
- Date: November 22, 2024
- Time: 14.00 - 18.00 (plus networking until 19.00)
- Location: Bar Beton, Utrecht Central Station
- Organizers: Marc Raaijmakers (Erasmus MC) and Ruben van Boxtel (PMC, Oncode Institute)
The aim of the workshop is to bring together basic and clinical researchers and clinicians to facilitate a discussion on the unmet clinical need of MDS, the related biological questions, new techniques, and potential routes towards a solution. We have defined different topics that we would like to discuss in brainstorm groups after a plenary session.
Defined brainstorm questions for the two hallmarks of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS); bone marrow failure (leading to (pan) cytopenia) and leukemic evolution:
- How do clonal abnormalities (even in relatively low 'variant allele frequency' ) influence tissue function, in the case of MDS leading to bone marrow failure?
- What are the cell-intrinsic and extrinsic drivers of clonal evolution and malignant transformation in MDS?
- What are the differences in MDS between children and adults with respect to the above points? To what extent does aging affect this phenotype?
The workshop is open for academic researchers, clinical researchers and clinicians with a specific interest into the topic. Limited seats available.
If you have any questions, please contact Marlinde Smit.
