The moment has come! Oncode is pleased to take part in the kick-off meeting of the CSA (Coordination and Support Action) for the 4.UNCAN.eu initiative, taking place today and tomorrow in Paris. Arising from the EU’s Mission on Cancer and Europe’s Beating Cancer plan, the initiative is focused on generating a research roadmap to better UNderstand poorly understood CANcers (UNCAN).

New breakthroughs in understanding fundamental mechanisms in cancer pathophysiology will lead to advancements in cancer prevention, early diagnosis and treatment and contribute to saving lives of patients as well as help ensure an optimal quality of life to disease survivors. This CSA project will culminate in a blueprint by the end of November 2023. This will include (1) selected key scientific challenges that urgently need to be addressed by research groups in Europe and beyond, (2) the framework of a European Federated Cancer Research Data Hub, and (3) mechanisms to support research and innovation potential across Europe. Oncode will take the lead on identifying regional gaps and inequalities in technology transfer, and find/discover/uncover opportunities to bridge the gap and accelerate valorization for 4.UNCAN.eu project outcomes at pan-European level.
In a new paper in Cancer Discovery, Oncode Investigator Rene Medema (NKI) and other researchers, summarize the cancer research issues that the blueprint will propose to tackle at an European level.
