As Head of Valorization, Blokhuis will lead a dedicated team of valorization professionals, ensuring that the results of Oncode Institute-affiliated research translate into maximum societal and economic impact. This newly created role marks an important step in enhancing Oncode Institute’s strategic approach to valorization. With his team, Blokhuis will work to bridge the gap between groundbreaking research and real-world applications, forging connections across academia and industry. In addition to driving Oncode Institute’s valorization strategy forward, he will lead and inspire a committed team within a dynamic and complex ecosystem of academic institutions, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies.

Blokhuis brings a proven track record of impact in the life sciences field. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions and built strategic collaborations with universities, charities, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as launching and investing in biomedical start-ups.  

He spent nearly eight years in the United States, working as a researcher at Stanford University before transitioning into business development as Head of Business Development at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy. There, he played a key role in driving the valorization of pioneering cancer research across six partner universities. More recently, he worked at General Inception, an international venture builder, where he worked closely with top scientists and knowledge transfer offices (KTOs) across European universities and institutions to establish and fund high-potential spin-outs.
