What do you actually do day-to-day at Oncode?

My role contributes to Oncode’s mission by strengthening the environment around the science. When researchers are well-connected, well-supported and aligned, their ideas move faster. By facilitating collaboration and making sure our programmes run effectively, I hope to contribute in a small but meaningful way to shortening the path from discovery to patient benefit.

Even though I am no longer in the lab, I still feel closely connected to impact because I work so closely with the researchers themselves.

How does your work connect to our mission?

Oncode aims to accelerate cancer research and translate discoveries into real impact for patients. By supporting researchers, aligning programmes and creating the right conditions for collaboration, I can help ideas spark, grow and move forward. When the environment around the science is strong, everything becomes more efficient.

Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of. What changed because of it?

One project I am very proud of is the Drug Repurposing Programme, which I lead. It is inspiring to see researchers from different disciplines come together around a shared goal of finding new applications for existing drugs.

What has changed is the level of connection and visibility across the community. Scientists are now collaborating, sharing insights and exploring opportunities together. This momentum also supports other instruments such as the Clinical Proof of Concept programme.

Seeing ideas spark between people and being able to support that has been incredibly rewarding.

What helps you do your best work here?

Purpose and people. Oncode has a very supportive, curious and collaborative culture. Everyone genuinely wants to help each other succeed.

I thrive when I can connect the dots between people, ideas and opportunities. Bringing together my scientific background with relationship-building and programme coordination allows me to contribute in a way that feels both fulfilling and impactful. I appreciate the synergy we have as a team.

Outside of work, what’s something people might not expect about you?

Two things.

I love food and enjoy connecting with people through it. With our international team, it is wonderful to learn about each other’s backgrounds through the food we bring, share and talk about.

I am also a space enthusiast. I grew up in Kenya, where frequent power outages meant dark, star-filled skies. That sparked a lifelong fascination with space, exploration and humanity’s efforts to understand the universe. Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot is a personal favourite because it brings perspective and reminds us of what we share as humans.
