We are pleased to announce that Melvin Samsom will take on the Chair role of Oncode Institute’s Supervisory Board. Samsom is a Professor of Gastroenterology at Radboudumc. He is also Senior Advisor at KPMG Health, Non-Executive Director of the Group Board of Bupa, in London, and Chair of the Supervisory Committee Reorganization Academic Care Landscape for the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. He has held various management positions within Radboudumc and also acted as CEO of Karolinska University Hospital.
“Melvin Samsom brings a wealth of national and international experience in management of large health care and research institutes. I am extremely happy that he is going to support our institute with his expertise and I look forward to working with him” says Jan Paul Medema, Head of Oncode Institute and Scientific Director.
“I'm delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the Oncode Institute's mission to uncover the complexities of cancer and striving for a future where everyone not only survives but enjoys the best quality of life” says Melvin Samsom.
Samsom is taking over the position from Eduard Klasen, who has chaired Oncode Institute with a lot of wisdom during its initial five years of existence, followed by René Kuijten who ad interim chaired the Supervisory Board until now. Oncode Institute is thankful to both for their invaluable contributions.
“We are all glad and honoured to have Melvin Samsom take on the Chair role of Oncode Institute’s Supervisory Board” says René Kuijten, who (ad interim) chaired Oncode Institute’s Supervisory Board for the last year and will now resume his role as vice Chairman. “Not only is Melvin accomplished in both medical and academic environments, but he has also successfully led renowned institutions such as Radboudumc and the Karolinska University Hospital. His expertise, network and personality are exactly what is needed to take Oncode Institute to the next level''.
