The major goals of EMBO are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work. Besides this, collectively, they can influence the direction of life science in Europe and strengthen research communities across the continent.

"It is a great honour to be elected as an EMBO member. I look forward to joining the vibrant scientific EMBO community and to participate in the EMBO programmes. I am excited about the novel networking opportunities offered by the EMBO membership" says de Visser. She and the new members join a community of more than 1800 leading researchers from Europe and from around the world, out of which 90 are Nobel Prize laureates.

“We are very proud that Karin and Wim have been elected as members of the EMBO community, an honor in recognition of their excellence in science and beyond.” says Geert Kops, Scientific Director of Oncode Institute.

The new EMBO Members will be formally welcomed at the annual EMBO Members’ Meeting between 27 and 29 October 2021.
